Eligibility for Application

All candidates must have passed the 12th Grade (10+2) examination. Specific subject requirements apply to certain disciplines.

  • Science Majors require specific subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology in 10+2.
  • M.Tech programmes require CEE/JEE scores and specific subject combinations including Mathematics and Physics.

Stream-specific Eligibility

FYIMP- Commerce & Business Administration

  • Commerce: 10+2 with subject related to Commerce.
  • BBA/MBA: 10+2 in any stream.

FYIMP- Science & Technology Programmes

  • Requires 10+2 in Science Stream for most M.Sc programmes.
  • M.Tech requires CEE/JEE scores and subject combination such as Maths, Physics and one of Chemistry/CS/etc.

FYIMP- Arts & Humanities Programmes

  • Most programmes are open to 10+2 in any stream.
  • Languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Hindi and Sanskrit may require specific subject knowledge at 10th/12th level.

Required Documents To Fill Up Application Form

Keep the following documents ready before filling up the FYIMP application form:

  • Email ID
  • Passport Size Photograph
  • Signature Photograph
  • Caste Certificate (OBC / SC / ST if applicable)
  • Marksheets: HSLC and HS
  • Income Certificate / Ration Card for fee waiver, if applicable
  • Domicile Certificate or Aadhaar

Statutory Domicile - Important: Statutory reservation is limited to students with Assam as domicile state only.

Reservation Criteria

All candidates who have applied or are in the process of applying for the FYIMP Programme at Gauhati University are hereby informed to follow the requirements regarding reservation categories.

1. Reservation under OBC/MOBC Category

Applicants seeking reservation under the OBC/MOBC category must upload a valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate. Acknowledgement receipts or proof of application for such certificates shall not be accepted.

2. Reservation under Other Category Quota

Candidates applying under other reserved categories must submit the prescribed form in hard copy along with a printed copy of the application form and required self-attested documents.

Important Notification for Non-Statutory Reservation Quota

(I) Sons and Daughters of Permanent GU Employees:
One seat in each Academic Department having intake capacity 40 or less, and two seats where intake is more than 40 students, are reserved on a supernumerary basis.

(II) Sons and Daughters of Retired GU Employees:
A total of five seats are reserved irrespective of all academic departments on a supernumerary basis.

(III) Fringe Village Quota:
A total of fifteen seats are reserved irrespective of all academic departments on a supernumerary basis.

(IV) Extra Curricular & Co-Curricular Activities:
One seat in each Academic Department is reserved on a supernumerary basis.

(V) NCC Quota:
Three seats are reserved irrespective of departments on a supernumerary basis.

(VI) NSS Quota:
Two seats are reserved irrespective of departments on a supernumerary basis.

(VII) Sons and Daughters of Ex-Defense Personnel:
One seat in each Academic Department is reserved on a supernumerary basis.

Important Notes

  1. Under Non-Statutory quota, if there is more than one eligible candidate for a supernumerary seat, only one candidate per category will be selected for each programme except Category I.
  2. Candidates applying under Non-Statutory quota and Differently Abled category must submit the prescribed form with self-attested testimonials.
  3. Candidates applying under General / Statutory Reservation including EWS category must submit relevant certificates during admission.
  4. Candidates seeking admission under reserved categories must be permanent residents of Assam. PRC must be produced during admission.

Exit Awards by Year

  • Year 1: Certificate: Awarded upon completion of 1 year.
  • Year 2: Diploma: Awarded upon completion of 2 years.
  • Year 3: Bachelor's Degree: B.A./B.Sc./B.Voc Major awarded after successful completion of 3 years.
  • Year 4: Honours/Research: B.A./B.Sc./B.Voc Honours or Honours with Research awarded based on thesis selection in the 4th year.
  • Year 5: Integrated Master's: M.A./M.Sc./M.Voc/M.Tech/M.Lib.I.Sc awarded after successful completion of 5 years.

Fees & Funding

All programmes are self-financing. Fees vary by department. Payment must follow Government of Assam rules through the SAMARTH Portal.

Stream-specific Notes

FYIMP- Commerce & Business Administration

Commerce: ₹25,000 per semester. BBA/MBA & Data Analytics: ₹30,000 per semester.

FYIMP- Science & Technology Programmes

Science Majors: ₹16,500 Odd / ₹14,500 Even. M.Tech: ₹28,980 Odd / ₹21,420 Even.

FYIMP- Arts & Humanities Programmes

Arts Majors: ₹14,500 Odd / ₹12,500 Even.
